CHRONIC ILLNESS

Diabetes Mellitus.

A clinic for people with diabetes is run most Friday mornings by Dr Elliott and Sister Corser. Dr Elliott has a special interest in Diabetes. This clinic is by appointment. If you find yourself without an appointment please contact Mrs Julie Scudder.

Heart Disease, Stroke, High Blood Pressure and Kidney Disease.

Once stabilised, patients should be reviewed twice a year.

Both Practice Nurses are fully versed in chronic disease management and appointments with them should be made six monthly. They will request the necessary blood tests and monitor blood pressure.

The nurses will involve your usual doctor if treatment changes are necessary, such as your blood pressure not being satisfactory.

Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Airways Disease.

The Practice Nurses are best placed to do the annual checks. The nurses will liaise with your usual doctor when necessary.

All of the above groups should have annual flu vaccinations and in the flu season (Oct – Dec), special Flu Clinics are run. Please ask at Reception.
